 "To Ellen, My Loving and Well Loved Sister"

by Denis Joe

And when you are in town again
talk to me as a stranger.
Forget that you shared
your past with my present. Then

I may tell you the same stories;
you’ll laugh, forgetting the time
I first told you them. And I find
I have no fear except the realities

of sorrow: the darkness;
when I cannot find the light-switch
to see what is in front and which
I can grasp onto with sureness.

Touched by angels.
You, touched and taken.
Leaving something barren;
leaving everything brittle.

    I have lived in Liverpool (UK) for the past 10 years and I am involved with The Spider Project and and The Wirral Ode Show

    I have had my work published in a few magazines most recently: Content (The Spider Project); a Different Kind Of Rocking (North End Writers); The Nerve (Liverpool) and 10X3Plus (USA) and RivLit (USA).  I run a blog dedicated to poetical issues, called Talking Verse.  (http://talkingverse.blogspot.co.uk/)

    A dramatisation of 24 of my poems was recently produced at the Bluecoat Gallery in Liverpool by The Spider Project, and featured in the Liverpool festival Writing on the Wall, in May. A limited edition booklet was printed up, which has now run its print.

    I would say that my favourite poets are from the USA  and I have a strong interest in Japanese court poetry.
